While you are not moving, GPS is off. The app uses the iPhone's motion sensors and low-power location signals to notice that a drive has started, turns on GPS for the drive and turns it off after you park. The Today screen shows how many minutes GPS was on today. In Eco mode (switched on automatically in Low Power Mode) the app samples less often and fills distance from map routes; odometer checks catch any difference.

Only Automatic tracking needs it, to detect drives while the app is closed. If you prefer not to allow it, use Shift mode (tap Start Shift before you drive; “While Using” is enough) or add trips manually. You can change the permission in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › OdoProof. For reliable detection also allow Motion & Fitness and keep Background App Refresh on.

Take an odometer photo at the start and end of your day or shift. OdoProof compares the odometer difference with the trips it recorded and shows a gap card when miles are missing. Tap it to add the missing distance as a reconciliation trip with both photos attached, or mark it personal. You can also merge, split or edit any trip; every change is kept in the history.

Yes. In the Shortcuts app, go to Automation › New Automation › CarPlay (or Bluetooth), choose your car and add the OdoProof action “Start Trip”. Motion detection stays on as a backup.

Everything between Start Shift and End Shift: the drive to your first pickup, the miles between orders and the drive home. Stops do not end the shift, but each drive is saved as its own trip, as tax logs require. Shift trips are marked business by default.

Open Reports › Export.

• United States: IRS-style mileage log (PDF and CSV) and the year-end tax pack: mileage log, expense summary, receipt and odometer photos in one ZIP file.
• Korea: 업무용승용차 운행기록부 in the National Tax Service layout (Excel and PDF).
• Japan: monthly 家事按分 report (CSV and PDF).
• Other countries: mileage log with your own rate per mile or km.

Raw CSV export is free for everyone. Reports can use a different language from the app, which is handy for your tax preparer.

No. OdoProof records, calculates and exports. Deduction amounts are estimates, and every rate shows its source; rates not yet confirmed by the authority are marked “provisional”. Ask a tax professional whether and how you can deduct your mileage.

Your data is part of your normal iPhone backup. You can also go to Settings › Backup & restore › Export archive, move the .odoproof file to the new iPhone (AirDrop or Files) and import it on the welcome screen. The app also keeps 4 weekly snapshots on the device.

OdoProof Pro is available yearly or as a one-time purchase. We remind you 7 days before a yearly renewal. Cancel at any time in iOS Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions. If Pro ends, all your data stays viewable, editable and exportable as CSV. To restore a purchase on a new device, use Settings › OdoProof Pro › Restore Purchases. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Terms of Use: Apple standard EULA.

Settings › Privacy › Delete All Data removes everything OdoProof stored on your iPhone (export an archive first if you want to keep it). The switch “Share anonymous usage statistics” on the same screen stops all analytics. See the privacy policy for details.
